A man was shot and killed near Hard Rock Stadium shortly after a Miami Dolphins game against the Buffalo Bills, according to Miami Gardens police. The incident occurred Sunday night around 11:55 p.m., mere blocks from the stadium, with witnesses reporting chaotic scenes as fans were leaving the game. The deceased, identified as 30-year-old Dylan Brody Isaacs, was walking to a parked car with friends when an argument broke out with the driver of an older model silver 4-door Honda Accord, as reported by the Miami Herald.
The confrontation quickly escalated, prompting the driver to fatally shoot Isaacs and rapidly flee the scene. Miami-Dade cops who were assigned to the game arrived swiftly and attempted to save Isaacs, but he was pronounced dead on the spot by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, as confirmed by both Miami Herald and CBS News Miami. "I tried to talk to him. I was holding his hand. His girlfriend came over and told him he was strong. At that moment he actually lifted his arm up so there was hope and maybe like 30 seconds later his eyes rolled up and that was it," bystander Jae Jackson told CBS News Miami about his attempt to comfort Isaacs during his final moments.
Police have since identified and questioned a suspect, but no arrest had been made regarding the fatal incident. The Honda Accord used to flee the scene was discovered in West Palm Beach, which is approximately 60 miles north of the stadium. A reward up to $5,000 is being offered for anonymous tips that lead directly to an arrest. The victim's family is grappling with the sudden loss and has raised over $90,000 to transport Isaacs' body to Six Nations, the largest First Nations reserve in Canada. "Conflicts are not worth a life," Susan Isaacs, the victim's mother, conveyed to the Miami Herald's news partner CBS News Miami.
The tragic outcome has left the football community in dismay. "The greatest entertainment in this country is the NFL and it shouldn't end up in someone's death," said Ray Natalello, a football fan who attended the game, according to an interview by CBS News Miami. Miami Gardens police are actively seeking information related to the shooter and encourage anyone with tips to reach out to Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
