The National Weather Service (NWS) reported that three to five inches of rain inundated parts of Bexar County, as a weather system from northern Mexico swept into South Texas. Although flash flood warnings expired after 1 p.m. that day, the relentless rain caused numerous low-water crossings to shut down. There is more rain expected, which could complicate the already soggy situation, with forecasts suggesting up to 3/4 inch more could fall in the coming days.
Moreover, conditions are set to persist, with continuous rain chances forecasted Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, according to a Texas Public Radio report. "The rain was very much welcome in San Antonio and across the Hill Country, both long suffering some of the worst drought conditions in the nation," said Texas Public Radio. The Edwards Aquifer Authority noted the area's main water source, standing at 640 feet, needs to rise to 660 feet and stay there for ten days before current water restrictions can be lifted. In the meantime, residents continue to grapple with Stage 2 water restrictions as they anticipate spring planting.
