A disturbing twist in a Texas double homicide case reveals the victims, a pregnant woman and her boyfriend, who had a documented history of domestic violence, became the targets of a brutal crime just one day before she was due to give birth. San Antonio's Savanah Nicole Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22, were found shot to death on December 26 according to Fox San Antonio, their bodies dumped in Guerra's car at an apartment complex.
Further complicating the case, court records show Guerra was on probation for assaulting Soto last Christmas. In an arrest affidavit obtained by Newsweek, it's noted that Guerra went to the now-charged suspect Christopher Preciado's home on the night of December 21 to sell marijuana, which is when Preciado allegedly killed the couple. Ramon Preciado, 53, is also implicated in helping his son move the corpses. Both men were arrested on January 3 and now, the Preciados have had their upcoming court dates rescheduled.
Investigators pieced together the tragic events through surveillance footage which led them to the suspects, Christopher Preciado, 19, now facing capital murder and additional charges, and his father, Ramon Preciado, charged with abuse of a corpse, as reported by Newsweek. Myrta Romanos, Christopher's stepmother, has been charged with alteration, destruction, or concealment of a human corpse, among other charges.
Despite a protective order following the assault last Christmas, Guerra faced further legal issues including violating that order, and failing to attend a mandated anti-domestic violence program. Guerra's probation had been extended until February 2025, with a stipulation allowing contact with Soto, providing it was not "harmful or injurious," a condition that, in retrospect, bears a grave and tragic irony.
The SAPD continues to investigate the deaths of Soto and Guerra. Meanwhile, Gloria Cardova, who identified herself as Soto's mother, had pleaded for help on Facebook in locating her daughter when she did not appear for her scheduled labor induction. The Texas Department of Public Safety had issued a CLEAR Alert for Soto, last seen with Guerra before the authorities determined that they were victims of homicide.
