
Tragedy struck in a wooded area off Springside Drive SE this weekend, as a teenage boy wound up in the hospital with a critical head wound from a gunshot.
The Atlanta Police Department responded to a call at 345 Springside Drive SE on the evening of January 13th following reports of a person shot. According to a statement from the police, at around 7:23 pm officers found the 16-year-old male victim suffering from a gun-related injury.
Initial findings suggest an accidental discharge was the cause. The juvenile, alongside two friends, had been firing handguns in the woods near the location when he was struck. Transported to the hospital in critical condition, the boy's name has not been released to the public. The Aggravated Assault Unit is digging into the details of the case.
