Bomb scare at Texas State University in San Marcos ends with an "all clear" from authorities Monday evening. The campus, rattled briefly by a bomb threat, saw the evacuation of five residence halls in a move the university described as being "out of an abundance of caution." The evacuated buildings included Butler, College Inn, Derrick, Jackson, and Tower Halls.
The university's administration issued a safety alert around 6:46 p.m. on social media. The alert informed students and faculty of the evacuations, implicating that the FBI and other law enforcement agents were on the scene, conducting a thorough search of the premises. The threat, which tormented the campus for a short duration, was later "discredited," the university officials said, according to KXAN.
Following a grueling wait, the university posted on its website that the "all clear" had been given and all halls were reopened. The university confirmed that students could "resume normal activities." During the evacuation, Alkek Library and LBJ Student Center, along with dining halls, remained available for use, ensuring students had safe spaces to gather.
Details concerning the nature of the threat or the investigations that ensued are limited. Nevertheless, the campus has been swept clear of danger, with no further threats hanging over the heads since the earlier issued bomb scare, as per KVUE.
