Empowering Black voices in various sectors, nonprofit organizations in the Valley and an executive director from The Blackhouse Foundation have taken significant strides. Fabrice Beohourou, hosting "The Yaggah Movement" on KRDP Community Radio, is using his platform to provide a mix of current events and music while fostering a message of unity. Beohourou emphasized the importance of embracing differences in an ABC15 interview, stating, "The whole goal is just to embrace each other and our differences."

Aiming to uplift voices that have historically been marginalized, Desert Soul Media oversees two public radio stations and features shows like Soul Star Live, which airs on weekdays. Alvin Galloway, host of "The Alvin Galloway Show," noted that they have an opportunity to project the Black community's concerns. "We address the Black community's concerns," explained Galloway in a statement obtained by ABC15, "We like to give voice to the voiceless."

Parallel to Desert Soul Media's efforts, Jenean Glover stands as the executive director of The Blackhouse Foundation, an organization born at The Sundance Film Festival with the mission to be a haven for creatives and executives of color. According to a feature published by USC, Glover is dedicated to empowering underrepresented creators and advocating for inclusive storytelling.

Glover, who earned her Master's in Integrated Design, Business, and Technology in 2020, has decades of experience. Having worked her way up from the mailroom to a talent agent at William Morris Endeavor, she continues to change the narrative around representation. "There weren’t a lot of folks that looked like me. A young African American woman in engineering, there weren’t a lot of us," Glover told USC, highlighting the lack of diversity she faced in her early career.

Both Desert Soul Media and The Blackhouse Foundation seek to magnify the presence and influence of the Black community, be it through the airwaves or within the glittering sphere of entertainment. These organizations foster dialogue, connection, and pathways for expression and recognition. For those interested in engaging, volunteering, or supporting, these platforms represent beacons of progress and empowerment.
