LDK Ventures, the Sacramento industrial acquisition and development firm behind major work at McClellan Business Park and the Railyards, has crossed the state line and officially set up shop in Arizona. The company has opened a Scottsdale office, its first location outside the Sacramento region, as it makes a deliberate push into the U.S. Southwest and other fast growing Sun Belt markets.
According to the Sacramento Business Journal, the Scottsdale outpost is LDK's first permanent office beyond Northern California and will serve as a base for its Southwest activity. The firm is not abandoning home turf, though, and remains headquartered at McClellan Business Park in Sacramento.
In a post on LinkedIn, LDK framed the Scottsdale move as a natural extension of work it is already doing in other Western states. The firm said the new office will “build on the foundation we’ve established in Idaho and Nevada” as it extends further into Arizona and Texas. “We’re excited to bring that same approach to the Southwest, and even more excited to have Walker leading the way,” the post read, referring to regional leadership for the new division.
Why Scottsdale?
Scottsdale is not exactly a random dart on the map. The city, particularly the Kierland and Airpark corridors, remains one of the Phoenix metro's tighter and more active office pockets, a draw for companies that want to be close to the action without getting lost in downtown sprawl.
Real Estate Daily News, citing CBRE Research, reported that the Northeast Valley and Scottsdale submarket posted some of the Phoenix area's lowest office vacancy levels in late 2025. Brokers there say comparable properties are getting harder to find, a dynamic that tends to catch the attention of industrial and logistics players looking for a foothold in a growth market.
LDK's footprint and strategy
LDK is pitching the Scottsdale move as part of a long term industrial focused strategy rather than a one off Arizona experiment. The company highlights its work at McClellan and the Railyards, as well as operations spread across the Intermountain West, on its own materials.
On its website, LDK Ventures emphasizes industrial, mixed use and logistics projects in markets that include Boise and Nampa, reflecting a preference for fast growing regional hubs with room for large scale development.
People on the Move from the Business Journals network recently listed Walker Durant as Regional Vice President for LDK's Southwest Division, noting that he will oversee expansion in Arizona, Texas and Nevada. For now, LDK says the Scottsdale team will stay intentionally lean while the company lines up deals and additional hires to flesh out its push into the broader Southwest.
