
In a late-night blaze that shook a Northeast Austin neighborhood, the Austin Fire Department (AFD) sprang into action, battling a house fire that ignited in a garage before spreading its fury to the attic. Crews faced down the flames amidst intense heat and suffocating smoke, managing to extinguish the fire that threatened to engulf the entire home, as stated in an official AFD Twitter update.
The incident, which occurred on Newport Ave near the bustling intersection of I-35 and Braker Lane, began at around 11 p.m. on Sunday; crews worked diligently not only to quash the flames but also to ensure no lives were lost. In the chaos fire can often seed five cats were snatched from the grips of smoke and the potential ruin that loomed over them, according to information reported by FOX 7 Austin.
At 11:00 pm last night AFD responded to a house fire in NE Austin on Newport Ave near I-35/ Braker Ln. The fire started in the garage & spread to the attic. Fighting through heat & smoke, crews extinguished the fire & rescued 5 cats. 2 were given oxygen at the scene. pic.twitter.com/FCsHnpnH7l

These feline survivors, disoriented and in distress, were not met with silence upon their rescue, for two of the critters received emergency oxygen support at the scene. The fire's origins remain a mystery, its cause currently under the magnifying glass of ongoing investigations.
