Bivouac Ciderworks Unveils Expansive New Adventure Lodge & General Store in San DiegoSource: Google Street View

San Diego's Bivouac Ciderworks is expanding its horizons with a brand-new addition that offers more than just a sip of their famous cider. Owner Lara Worm unveiled the 5,700-square-foot Adventure Lodge & General Store, a place for cider lovers and adventure seekers to gather, sip, and shop—a trio of concepts rolled into one. According to San Diego Eater, the newly minted urban oasis debuted on 30th Street, next door to the original tasting room and restaurant.

The Adventure Lodge is designed as an immersive space that serves as an inclusive hub for cider education and community engagement. “I really want everyone to find their place here,” Worm said in a statement obtained by SanDiegoMag. The curated space features a stone tasting bar with 20 taps, an array of local and experimental ciders, and a guided tasting experience intended to reveal the complexities of cider.

In addition to offering exclusive ciders, the storefront, fashioned like a Parisian sidewalk cafe, showcases daily pastries, espresso, and tea drinks—all served in mugs crafted by a local ceramicist, eliminating to-go options in a sustainable fashion. The General Store shelves global ciders, gear, and unique assortments from primarily women and BIPOC-owned brands, with a zero-waste snack bar for visitors to enjoy responsibly.

Adding to the allure, the expansion has increased tank space by fivefold, allowing for greater cider production and distribution plans for Bivouac. The expansion opens up from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and closes at 5 p.m. on weekends for private events in the space. Notably, the Adventure Lodge includes an intimate salon reminiscent of 1920s Paris—Salon d'Eau de Vie—for connoisseurs of premium brandy and cognac. “Everyone in San Diego has a speakeasy,” added Worm, according to SanDiegoMag, “but mine will be as exclusive as they get,” promising a 12-seat, no-photography enclave.

Welcome to the newest chapter in San Diego's beverage scene—a "Choose Your Own Adventure" experience where every turn introduces guests to another facet of the Bivouac brand. Whether grabbing a pastry, sampling hard-to-find global ciders, lounging in a yurt-like space under natural light, or sneaking into a secretive brandy lounge, Bivouac Adventure Lodge is making it clear: the apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to innovation and ambition.
