Early Monday, Brentwood police nabbed an 18-year-old suspect, Antonio Zamora of Brentwood, following a spate of car burglaries that stirred the community in the dead of night—around 2 AM, according to the City of Brentwood Police Department's Facebook page. Allegedly caught with stolen goods and matching the suspect description, officers quickly pieced together a trail leading to Zamora after reports of shattered glass and thievery echoed from Bartlett Court to Malaga Way.

A vigilant local on Brooks Street, woken by the criminal cacophony, described a figure cloaked in black darting from their burglarized vehicle; shortly after, police discovered blood at the scene of the crime, linking to the suspect but Zamora was gone at the time of their arrival leaving officers to canvas the neighborhood for further clues. A Brentwood sergeant's sharp eye spotted the man mere blocks away, his hands freshly cut, the booties of his alleged night's work in his possession, signaling a break in the case.

Upon questioning and further investigation, Brentwood authorities confirmed Zamora's connection to a total of four car burglaries, branding him the prime suspect in four other thefts and an instance of car vandalism, seemingly another botched burglary attempt. The collected evidence was enough to cart Zamora off to the Martinez Detention Facility where he was booked on multiple counts of burglary.

"The Brentwood Police Department commends the swift and diligent efforts of its officers in apprehending the suspect and preventing further criminal activity in our community," lauded the department's Facebook announcement following the incident.
