A Deerfield Beach neighborhood was rocked yesterday morning when a pickup truck crashed into a home on Northwest 37th Street. The Broward Sheriff's Office and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue were on the scene following the incident, which occurred just after 8:45 a.m., as WSVN reported.
The driver of the red Chevrolet Silverado was arrested on charges of driving under the influence after he barreled into the residence, causing extensive damage. BSO deputies, made quick work of securing the scene and ensuring the safety of all those involved. "Luckily, nobody injured, nobody dead," area resident Larissa Paula told WSVN in a statement indicative of the relief felt by the community.
Occupants of the home were unharmed, despite the truck's intrusion into the living room where Nemias Perez and his family had been sleeping moments before. Speaking with WSVN, Perez described the destruction, stating that four cars were totaled in the chaos.
Following the ordeal, footage displayed the house boarded-up; a makeshift barricade against further disorder as the family contends with a powerless home and impending repairs. The condition of their residence was such that they could not remain there. The driver, meanwhile, is facing DUI-related charges as investigations continue NBC Miami reported.
