The clock is ticking for those looking to join the Texas Emergency Management Academy’s next cadet class, with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) confirming only two weeks left to throw your hat in the ring. Prospective emergency management hotshots have until February 29 to apply, TDEM announced yesterday.
The training program, set to commence this September in San Antonio, is prepping for its third batch of cadets and aims to mold the fresh faces of disaster readiness. "Time is running out to apply for this year's class, which prepares participants for careers in disaster and emergency services or enhances professional development and training for existing careers," TDEM Chief Nim Kidd stated.

Tapping into the pressing need for a robust emergency management workforce, The Academy offers extensive training across the full emergency management spectrum – from preparedness to recovery. Successful participants will emerge on the other side as certified savants of disaster response, with certifications from the likes of FEMA's Professional Development Series and more under their belts.
"I urge interested applicants to apply for this valuable opportunity to strengthen emergency management knowledge, skillsets, and principles, helping to reinforce the ability of emergency managers in Texas to protect life and property," Kidd pressed. Graduates leave The Academy's halls with a shiny EMT certification and coveted National Registry Certification, to boot.
The cadre of instructors includes nationally-celebrated experts and TDEM pundits, ensuring that the learning experience is as robust as it is rewarding. With its inaugural class already out in the field since last spring and its second class slated to graduate this spring, The Academy is rapidly becoming a coveted launchpad for Texas’s emergency management professionals.
