A food truck vendor's shift in Phoenix ended in violence and tragedy when he was repeatedly stabbed during a late-night altercation. Heriberto Acosta, a 41-year-old man, was closing down his food truck when a vehicle rolled up and a fight broke out between the occupants and the food truck employees, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.
The confrontation escalated quickly, with one of the assailants plunging a knife into Acosta several times before fleeing the scene. Police were summoned to the corner of 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 11:30 p.m. but have yet to detain suspects or provide a suspect description, as reported by AZ Family. Acosta was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Local customers who frequent the food truck in daylight expressed their shock and concern following the incident. "It's shocking, but, I mean, it happens around this area," one customer reflected in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. Though the violent episode has rattled the community, the customers indicate a sense of safety in daylight, contrasting their apprehension after dark.
