Goodwill Outlet Center Brings Bargains by the Pound to Downtown San DiegoSource: Google Street View

The city's downtown is gearing up to welcome its very first Goodwill Outlet Center.  According to FOX 5 San Diego, this is no ordinary Goodwill store. Instead of fixed prices, shoppers can snag items by weight, offering some of the deepest discounts in thrift shopping. Be part of the grand opening on Wednesday, Feb. 28, and grab a chance to win more than just bargains with a special swag bag drawing.

What used to be Jerome's Furniture Warehouse at 1466 F Street has transformed into a 22,000 square-foot treasure trove. The Goodwill Outlet Center, marking its presence as the fourth of its kind in San Diego County, will be the new “furniture hub,” according to Goodwill Industries of San Diego County’s Facebook page. And, yes, it accepts your bulky furniture donations. Forget the hassle of downtown parking because this place comes with a sweet spot: an underground lot with free parking and entrance on F Street.

Founded in 1930, Goodwill of San Diego County stands out as a heavyweight nonprofit with a vital mission in the region. It's not just a place to score a deal – it’s an institution that serves the community. Last year alone, they provided job training and assistance to more than 6,600 individuals facing employment barriers. Through its various outlets, including the newest downtown location, Goodwill employs over 1,600 people, making a tangible impact on local lives.

For those who can't make it to the grand opening, with doors opening bright and early at 8:30 a.m., the outlet will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, beckoning bargain hunters Monday through Saturday. If you plan on donating or delighting in the hunt for hidden gems, you can just check out more details about their mission and the programs they offer on the Goodwill website. A special guest known as the Smiling G Ambassador awaits, surely a bonus for selfie enthusiasts and social media buffs looking to share their thrifty adventures.
