Although the ceremonies were free of charge, all couples had to apply for and obtain their marriage licenses in advance. Florida law dictates a mandatory three-day waiting period for residents, hence the couples were required to quickly secure their licenses by the Friday before in order to participate in the Wednesday festivities.
