A Cedar Park teen who went missing over the weekend has been found and confirmed safe, officials reported earlier today. The 19-year-old, whose disappearance spurred concerns due to a possible medical emergency, was located following a multi-day search that captivated the local community.
The Cedar Park Police Department had issued a statement via Facebook about the missing girl, who vanished early Saturday morning from her home near East Park Street and Gupton Way Drive. It was feared she was in urgent need of medical assistance. According to a spokesperson for the City of Cedar Park, the girl's mother has made contact with her daughter and she is now safe, KENS5 reported.
Details on the circumstances of her disappearance and how she was ultimately found have not been released. The Cedar Park Police Department has not yet made direct contact with the teen following the report from her mother.
The community, previously on high alert, breathed a sigh of relief as the news broke of her safety. "A spokesperson with CPPD told KXAN her mother informed police that she made contact with her daughter and she is safe," according to KXAN Austin. The nature of the girl's medical emergency has not been detailed by officials.
