Thieves in Rose City are having a harder time keeping out of handcuffs, thanks to a series of focused policing efforts. The most recent crackdown by the North Precinct of the Portland Police Bureau saw 13 suspects roasted for retail theft among other crimes.
The initiative, which took place on February 8 in the Hollywood and Lloyd Districts, wasn't just a slap on the wrist for petty shoplifters, but a larger operation tackling various criminal activities – yielding multiple arrests, vehicles return to their rightful owners, and a heap of warrants served. According to the Portland Police Bureau, two individuals caught in the net were hit with multiple felony warrants, including charges of handling stolen vehicles, reckless driving, and putting lives in danger with their reckless antics.
The police report states that these theft missions will roll on, undeterred, with the promise of throwing a wrench in the works of Portland's persistent retail theft and related crimes.
