
The streets of Daly City have been hit by a crime sweep, with locals on high alert after a string of robberies and burglaries over the past two weeks. Daly City Police have reported a total of five robberies across various locations, including convenience stores, shopping centers, and even a bus stop, according to the latest Crime Bulletin.
Detailing the incidents, one robbery took place in the early hours at a 7-Eleven on Hillside Boulevard, where suspects armed with a gun made off with cash and cigarettes valued around $1,050, reported the Crime Bulletin. Another robbery victim chased suspects after they swiped his bags at a bus stop on Mission Street, only to recover them sans groceries and a $20 knife. In a separate event, shoppers at Nordstrom Rack were targeted when four suspects pushed a store greeter and pinched goods totaling approximately $1,060. They stayed at a bus stop on Mission Street and were robbed of $1,050 and personal belongings. The victims described the suspects as a mix of male and female individuals.
Residential tranquility in Daly City has also been breached, with burglars breaking into homes while residents slept and making off with items such as documents, electronics, and cash. One attempt was foiled when an offender trying to kick a door in was arrested on the spot. As for those hitting the gym could not escape Daly City's recent crime wave, with thieves breaking into lockers at Planet Fitness. Car owners faced their woes, with nine vehicles broken into and valuable items stolen, including electronics and tools.
Authorities are not just tallying losses; they're also making gains with the arrest of multiple suspects involved in an armed robbery in Cypress Court. After a violent confrontation wherein a victim was struck with a gun, officers were able to book two 18-year-olds from Daly City and a 15-year-old from San Francisco on robbery and conspiracy charges. In vehicle theft, a staggering eighteen cars were reported stolen, with eleven thankfully recovered, as the police continued their battle against these crimes. Meanwhile, Daly Citizens are coping with 17 reported domestic disturbances and contending with incidents involving psychiatric holds, alongside public intoxication and reports of vandalism.
Residents are urged to remain cautious and vigilant, with the Daly City Police Department actively investigating the spate of criminal activity.
