Firefighters in San Antonio were called into action late Wednesday night when a blaze erupted at a northwest side home. The San Antonio Fire Department worked to extinguish a fire that started near a house on West Lynwood around 11:30 p.m., as reported by KENS 5.
The Battalion Chief reported that the fire originated near a trailer and some trash outside, which then spread to the house. Although the house was being used solely for storage and was unoccupied at the time, the flames managed to invade the structure, creeping up into the attic. However, the fire did not last long under the swift action of the emergency crews, according to SAFD.
While no injuries have been reported, the incident has raised alarms. An investigation has been launched to uncover the cause of the mysterious fire, which remained smoldering even after the initial flames were subdued. Details from FOX San Antonio described the house as located off West Lynwood Avenue near San Pedro Avenue. Crews were able to quell the fire, but not before it had already inflicted damage upon the attic and continued to produce smoke.
As the investigation continues, the cause of the fire remains uncertain. Officials, however, have noted that the blaze seemed to have started outside next to a trailer and slowly made its way to the house. The outcome could have been far worse, had it not been for the timely response of San Antonio's firefighters, who acted to prevent the fire from spreading further and causing further havoc in the neighborhood.
