Taylor, Texas was the scene of a gunshot-triggered manhunt Friday, which ended with one man in handcuffs. Taylor Police Department officers rushed to the 900 block of South Main Street at around 8:20 a.m. after a 911 caller reported shots fired by a suspect described as wearing all black and running from a nearby field, KXAN reported. The chaos unfolded when witnesses then claimed to have seen another individual decked in camouflage hit the ground, though this person mysteriously vanished without a trace.

Jesus Rodriguez-Gonzalez, a 25-year-old, was taken into custody by police, Taylor Press stated. The accused, found gripping a loaded revolver, faced charges of disorderly conduct-display of a firearm, a Class B misdemeanor. "He admitted to firing a round,” Commander Joseph Branson said in a statement obtained by the Taylor Press. Further searches for the second reportedly downed suspect yielded no results, not even a drop of blood to suggest an injury had occurred.

Rodriguez-Gonzalez, who complied with the arrest by laying his weapon down, could face up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted. The search operation roped in resources from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Williamson County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, and a request for the Department of Public Safety's helicopter, which couldn't fly out due to poor weather conditions. Unfortunately, the mystery of the camouflaged individual remains unresolved, as neither additional evidence nor the person of interest was located after an exhaustive search.

As the community rebounds from the disturbance, Taylor PD acknowledges the vital role of the initial 911 caller. "Just call and report what you have seen," Branson noted, praising the caller's actions. The public is encouraged to contact Sgt. Mike Culp at 512-352-5551 with any information that could shed light on the incident.
