Chaos struck in two separate incidents in San Antonio as a hit-and-run left one man fighting for his life and a shooting behind a shopping center critically wounded a homeless man, authorities said.
Earlier today, a man was critically injured after being struck by a driver who egregiously did not stop to help, according to KENS 5. The San Antonio Police Department responded to the scene on the 6500 block of Old Highway 90, where they found the victim thrown into a grassy area next to the street. The unidentified man was quickly transported to University Hospital in a critical state, according to officials. The vehicle involved in the accident left no description, and the suspect's identity remains unknown, with police continuing to investigate the matter.
On the same ill-fated night, another victim was met with a grim fate behind a Northwest Side shopping center. A homeless man was reportedly shot twice in the stomach during a confrontation that turned violent, noted Fox San Antonio. Authorities stated that the man and a woman were staying in a tent when they were approached by an armed individual. Following an argument, the suspect discharged the weapon twice, hitting the homeless man in the stomach before fleeing the scene. The woman who was with the victim escaped the encounter unharmed.
Investigators are working to track down the shooter, who remains at large. The homeless man was rushed to the hospital, and he is now also in critical condition. As both incidents unfolded under the cloak of night, no suspects have been apprehended, and both cases are under ongoing investigation. With little to go on, the San Antonio Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward.
