A 15-year-old boy has been cuffed for the murder of a 22-year-old man in a Madison apartment complex last month, authorities said. Jakari Pirtle, who is actually 16, according to an official correction, is accused of fatally shooting Emanuel Scott during what appeared to be a robbery at Charter Village Apartments, according to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County.
Investigators moved to quickly arrest the teenager Wednesday after blocking his vehicle at a local intersection. "Detectives jammed his vehicle at the intersection of 11th Avenue North at Jo Johnston Avenue," the Nashville Police detailed. They found two guns inside the car, raising concerns about the ease with which youths in our cities can seemingly arm themselves to the teeth.
Pirtle, like the victim Scott, resided at the apartment where the tragedy unfolded. Although the motive behind the killing seems to have been a robbery, the investigation remains active as police look into whether there are any additional culprits involved.
