A tragic collision on a sunny Sunday morning claimed the life of a local bicycle enthusiast in Boynton Beach, Florida, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. 78-year-old Harry Mulder was fatally struck by a vehicle as he navigated an intersection.

Mulder who was riding his bike south on El Clair Ranch Road, attempted to cross at Piper Glen Boulevard when his path was met by an oncoming 2012 Honda CRV, CBS12 reports. He was propelled onto the ground in the aftermath of the accident, at around 9:00 a.m.

WFLX detailed that Mulder was traversing the sidewalk and proceeded onto the crosswalk when the eastbound CRV entered the intersection, initiating the deadly encounter. The impact was such that it necessitated immediate medical attention.

First responders rushed Mulder to Delray Medical Center, but despite the rapid response, life-saving attempts fell short and he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office shared. The driver of the CRV remained unscathed throughout the incident.
