In the early hours of March 5th, Austin fire crews had to quickly spring into action to extinguish a blaze that ravaged a mobile home in Southeast Austin, near the city's airport. The Austin Fire Department has confirmed the incident occurred at the intersection of Capitol View and Thornbury road and reported that the fire was contained exclusively to the single residence. Notably, there were no casualties associated with this event since no one was found inside the home when the fire broke out around midnight, as per a video by KVUE.
Responders to the scene had to effectively work to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures in the area. Though the exact cause of the fire is currently unknown, authorities are investigating to determine whether it was accidental or intentional. This effort by the fire department must be especially commended, as they were simultaneously managing two other emergencies at the time of the incident - the task was to quickly respond to the conflagration while balancing their stretched resources, according to the Austin Fire Info.
As firefighters arrived, they discovered flames under the mobile home and promptly began pulling lines to douse the inferno. The swift reaction ensured that the fire was brought under control without delay, and as such additional units rushed to the scene ended up being canceled. The efforts prevented what could have escalated into a more catastrophic situation for the inhabitants of the Sunbonnet Cove neighborhood.
