The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office has put out a call for help in tracking down 25-year-old Sean Eric Vanmeveren, who is accused of fleeing from Brown County deputies. The sheriff's office announced the suspect has eluded capture after a car chase and is suspected in relation to a vehicle theft.
A pursuit unfolded in the early hours of March 5 when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle that bolted from Brown County law enforcement. A red 2012 Chrysler 200, driven by Vanmeveren, was located by BEC deputies near Lake Crystal at roughly 1:13 AM. The chase continued through tar and gravel roads until officers foiled the getaway using Stop Stick tire deflation devices. Despite the success in ending the car chase, the driver managed to escape on foot and remains at large.
The manhunt for Vanmeveren extends beyond this single incident. He is the prime suspect in multiple car chases and is sought for outstanding warrants across Redwood and neighboring southwestern MN counties. Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office revealed Vanmeveren might also be involved in the theft of a red 2012 GMC Sierra pickup bearing MN license plate 733KMU, with the incident occurring in the vicinity of the chase.
