A grim discovery was made near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on March 12 as authorities reported the finding of a decomposed body. The Phoenix Police were summoned to the scene after Arizona Department of Public Safety Troopers came across the corpse off Interstate 10 and East Sky Harbor Circle, FOX 10 Phoenix reported. The body, thought to be that of an adult male, was described to be in the late stages of decomposition.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, there was no immediate indication of foul play, and the incident has not triggered a homicide investigation. The remains of the unidentified man were found just around 9:30 a.m. by workers who were cleaning the area. The task of identifying the victim and establishing the cause of death has been deferred to the medical examiner’s office, with further examination to follow.
The authorities have not released the identity of the deceased, and the investigation remains in the early stages. The area where the body was found is closely monitored due to its proximity to the airport, raising questions about how long the body had been at the location undetected.
The Phoenix Police Department has assured the public that the case is currently being handled as a death investigation, 12 News disclosed. "This incident is currently being handled as a death investigation, the office of the medical examiners will assist with postmortem examination and identification," the department conveyed in a news release.
