A fatal shooting in broad daylight has Casa Grande on edge as police hunt for the gunman responsible for the death of a 45-year-old local man. The Casa Grande Police Department confirmed the homicide, which occurred early this morning on North Vista Lane.
Officials have identified the victim as Steve Shinault, who succumbed to numerous gunshot wounds to his torso. Marcus Hatton, 49, also of Casa Grande, has been named as the suspect. Police say he fled the scene and is currently at large, urging the public to regard him as armed and dangerous. In a twist of chaos, the victim was found to have attempted to quickly drive away after the shooting, only to crash into nearby residential structures on East Prickly Pear Street.
The two men apparently knew each other and were in the midst of a violent altercation outside a home when the incident took a deadly turn. No bystanders were injured in the series of events that rattled the otherwise quiet neighborhood.
Investigators are piecing together the circumstances that led to the violence and are calling on the public to help locate Hatton. Detective Brandon Garcia, leading the investigation, has urged anyone with information that could to potentially aid the police to come forward. "Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Marcus Hatton to call or email," details a statement on the Casa Grande official website.
As the manhunt continues, authorities reiterate the call for assistance, encouraging anonymous tips through Silent Witness. The community, while shaken, is hoped to be instrumental in apprehending Hatton and shedding light on what led to this tragic confrontation.
