The suspects, described as two black males and two Hispanic males in their late teens to early twenties, have been using a 2020 silver Volkswagen Jetta with Illinois plates CM51730 as their getaway car, wielding semiautomatic weapons with extended magazines to intimidate and rob their victims.
Victims have experienced varying degrees of violence during these encounters, with the armed assailants demanding wallets, phones, and cash, and in one harrowing situation, a man was violently yanked from his car, thrown to the ground, and sustaining a shoulder injury, the alert detailed three specific incidents occurring early morning on March 10, in different locations including North California Avenue, North Cicero Avenue, and West Cortland Street, creating a climate of fear among those who frequent these Chicago neighborhoods.
The community alert offered recommendations for residents to protect themselves, suggesting to be vigilant of one's environment and strangers nearby; to move in groups and avoid carrying significant amounts of money; and highlighting the importance of not engaging with potential offenders as confrontations can escalate dangerously.
