
A young boy is fighting for his life after an apparent accidental shooting at a Glendale residence yesterday morning. The Glendale Police Department, responding to a call from near 67th Avenue and Camelback Road, discovered the child with a critical gunshot injury at approximately 10:15 a.m., and he was urgently transported to a hospital for treatment.
Details on the incident are sparing however, first responders provided immediate aid on the scene before the child's hospitalization, according to a statement obtained by ABC15 News, police have indicated that the shooting was accidental and self-inflicted. The boy whose age has not been released but is described as a child and not a teen, the circumstances surrounding how he came to possess the gun are still unknown.
In their ongoing investigation, Glendale police are not searching for additional suspects as everyone present at the home is reportedly cooperating with authorities. AZ Family noted that Public Information Officer Moroni Mendez described the case as a "very active investigation" with detectives continuing their work on scene for several hours after the incident.
