A 22-year-old woman's nightmare began at a Nashville gas station when convicted felon Jaymes Greer, 24, forced her into a violent ordeal that ended in his arrest last night. The sequence of events, which police described, started with Greer entering a Mapco on Old Hickory Boulevard, asking to use the clerk's phone before he triggered a physical altercation with the woman in a white Toyota Camry.
The gas station clerk played a pivotal role in the case, witnessing the assault and supplying crucial information that helped police identify Greer as the assailant. Greer inadvertently left his wallet at the scene—a mistake that proved vital for law enforcement. A reported armed with a handgun, officers quickly ascertained that Greer had previously outstanding warrants.
With the victim's family's assistance to track her down, officers from multiple precincts alongside Domestic Violence detectives, MNPD Aviation, and a Canine Unit coordinated their efforts to pinpoint the Camry's location. According to a statement released by the Nashville Police Department, a Glock pistol was recovered from a storm drain where it had been discarded from the vehicle during the pursuit.
The chase culminated when Greer fled the car on foot on Haynes Street after suffering a non-life-threatening stab wound to his back, for which he received treatment at Skyline Medical Center. Greer alleged to the officers that he had been stabbed by the kidnapped woman herself. She was found injured in a nearby street and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for serious facial injuries.
Greer now faces a slew of charges including especially aggravated kidnapping, evading arrest, and two counts of felony weapon possession, on top of his outstanding warrants for unrelated domestic assault and felony probation violation. Greer remains detained, with a bond set at $122,500.
