These disruptions, linked to the airport's expansive "New Horizon" project, are scheduled at 1 p.m., with a 3:30 p.m. alternative if necessary, as reported by The Tennessean.
Local driver Terrell Horton expressed his frustration to WSMV, “I have noticed in the last two years just an increase in traffic specifically heading towards the airport area.” Another irked motorist lamented the lunchtime traffic surge caused by the blasts, saying, “Gabbing lunch is kind of an issue as well just because of the traffic in and out of the area.” On the flip side, a taxi driver sees the bigger picture, anticipating benefits post-construction, believing "We get a lot of changes around the airport that help us."
