The event, announced on the Town of Davie's website, is slated to take place at the combined facility of the Fire Rescue Administration and Public Works and Capital Projects Department on Orange Drive from 10 a.m. to noon.
As the town braces for this drill, Davie officials warn that during those two hours, normal operations at the building will be on pause, and access for the public will be cut off. Folks in need of conducting business with the town will have to hold off until after the clock strikes noon. "This training is only available to Town staff," as per a statement on the Town's official announcement.
There will be plenty of action, though none of it real. Indoor and outdoor scenarios will incorporate sounds intended to mimic a real-life crisis situation. The community is urged not to fret over these, as these are part and parcel of the comprehensive drill meant to equip town staff with the know-how to handle potential threats. Still, the town assures that emergency services courtesy of the Fire Rescue will not be disrupted by the commotion.
Notices are due to be posted around the building as a heads up for anyone who might wonder about the hubbub. The town's outreach, notably, will not extend to journalistic participation in the event. "There will be no opportunities for the media to participate," the Davie Police Department has explicitly stated, leaving residents to rely on official communications for updates and reassurance.
