Davie residents, don't flip out if you hear alarms blaring next Tuesday. It's just a drill. The Town of Davie is gearing up to test its panic alarm systems at the Temporary Town Hall at 8800 SW 36th Street. According to a release from the town's official website, each modular building on the campus will undergo testing between 9 and 10 in the morning on March 19, 2024.
Officials emphasize that it's business as usual during the tests, so no need to change any plans if you're heading to Town Hall. Access to building lobbies will be business as usual, too. But if you're nearby, expect to hear the alarms and spot a blue light flashing outside a buildings being tested. As the Town of Davie's announcement states: "Residents and visitors should not be alarmed as this is only a test."
This safety measure, the town says, is to check that the panic alarm is doing what it's supposed to do—keeping the folks of Davie safe in an emergency. So when you hear that sound next week, just remember, it's just the town making sure its response systems are sharp as nails.
Got questions or concerns? The town's Human Resources Department is on hand to field them. Give them a buzz at 954-797-1100 and get all the information you need. And remember, when Tuesday comes and those sirens go off, don't sweat it—it's all part of the plan.
