Braving a torrential downpour, Eagle Pass firefighters extinguished a potential inferno at an oil plant this past Saturday. According to FOX San Antonio, the fire department received an urgent call after a storage tank was engulfed in flames.
The weather was less than optimal, with heavy rain blanketing the scene as crews arrived, however, only one oil tank had caught fire. Without hesitation, firefighters deployed heavy machinery and water jets, working swiftly under the adverse conditions to quell the blaze before it could leap to neighboring tanks.
Photos and footage documenting the blaze along with the fire department’s rapid response were later showcased on their official Facebook page. Eagle Pass's first responders have garnered praise for their effective action, avoiding what could have escalated into a severe environmental and safety crisis.
The department, credited with averting a catastrophe, detailed their efforts in extinguishing the flames on social media. "They quickly sprang to action and used heavy machinery and water to quickly knock down the fire, preventing it from spreading to the other tanks," reported FOX San Antonio. Their timely intervention ensured the safety of the facility and, by extension, the surrounding community.
