Authorities in Margate, Florida, breathed a sigh of relief as they announced an elderly man, who had vanished earlier this week, has been found safe. Seventy-year-old Jed Martinez had been reported missing from his home near the 7400 block of Northwest Fourth Place on Saturday afternoon, launching an urgent appeal for public assistance.
Martinez, described as a white male with grey hair, a matching beard, brown eyes, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 142 pounds, was last observed wearing a distinctive light green sweater adorned with an animal print, pants of unknown color, white shoes, and his glasses. His disappearance was particularly alarming, given his age, leading to him being classified as a missing endangered adult.
The search came to a close yesterday evening when the WSVN reported that the Margate Police had confirmed Martinez's safe return. The specifics of how and where Martinez was found, or the circumstances leading to his disappearance, have not been made public by the authorities.
During the time Martinez was missing, the Margate Police Department had reached out through social media platforms, urging the community to aid in their search. In a post shared by the department, they included a snapshot and description of Martinez, iterating the urgency, "MISSING PERSON ALERT🚨," as found on their official Facebook page. The public was implored to contact police with any potential leads, no matter how small.
