The manhunt for a suspected killer has intensified as the FBI joins forces with Miami authorities, raising the reward for information to $10,000. Joshua Campos is wanted for the fatal shooting of Demetrius Harris Jr. in July 2021, following a neighborhood dispute in Miami-Dade's Naranja area.

According to CBS News Miami, the FBI now believes that Campos, may have fled the state together with his girlfriend, Maxine McCord. Agent Mark McCormick remarked, "We have developed information that he is in Texas, Georgia, or Alabama," and assured that federal resources could aid in the apprehension of Campos.

Detective Oscar Andino of Miami-Dade conveyed the family's longing for closure, "Once the perpetrator is caught, this can bring closure to the family when he is arrested," he stressed in an interview obtained by CBS News Miami. The victim's grandmother, Shirley Harris, voiced her anguish and urgent desire for justice, reflecting on her grandson as a sweetheart who was a devoted father to his two daughters.

Harris Jr.'s death not only left an irreplaceable void in his family's hearts but left his young daughters, London and Madison, without their father. In a statement to Local10 Harris' father said, "It’s been a long time, it’s been three years," expressing the family's unyielding hope for justice as the FBI's involvement renews their drive to find the fugitives.

Authorities have flagged Campos as "armed, dangerous and an escape risk," a grim reminder of the alleged violence he's capable of. The manhunt for Joshua Ismael Campos and Maxine McCord continues tirelessly, as those with any information are urged to place a confidential call to 1-800-CALL-FBI or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. Campos faces charges of second-degree murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution for the crime that has shattered a family and left a community in search of answers.
