A former Mississippi County Sheriff's Deputy has found himself on the wrong side of the law after being arrested on charges of sexual assault and possession of child pornography. Colton Crabb, 26, was arrested at his home in Gosnell by the Arkansas State Police (ASP), as reported by WREG. Facing first-degree sexual assault charges and allegations of distributing, possessing, or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, Crabb now resides in the very detention facility he once watched over, with bail set at $50,000.
Having previously served with the Blytheville Police Department before his tenure at the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office, Crabb's career in law enforcement has come to an abrupt end. According to NWA Online, Crabb is no longer wearing a badge, though the echoes of his sworn oath to protect and serve ring with a dissonant irony.
Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook confirmed Crabb was a former deputy, noting his resignation several weeks prior to the arrest, though details surrounding the timing and circumstances of his departure remain unclear. "Arkansas State Police is handling the investigation," Cook told KAIT8 News, declining to divulge further information about the arrest. The arrest took place on Tuesday, March 27, and Crabb was released the same day after posting bond, jail rosters revealed.
