Chaos and contraband filled the disheveled scene at 138 Sargeant St., where Hartford police were called on March 14 to handle an unwanted guest situation, which unraveled into a significant drug and firearms bust. Upon arrival, officers described the apartment as being in shambles, with personal belongings scattered throughout, setting the stage for a find that would lead to multiple charges.

During their investigation inside the messy dwelling, the officers' gaze came upon narcotics packaging in plain sight, according to the Hartford Police Department's Facebook page, the clutter did little to hide the illicit items eventually uncovered, including numerous bundles of suspected heroin, vials of suspected crack cocaine, and a firearm equipped with an extended magazine and a switch converting it to fully automatic.

The discovery swiftly led to the arrest of 25-year-old Israel Jimenez, who now faces a raft of charges: possession of Class A and Class B drugs, operating without a firearm identification card, improper storage of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a large-capacity firearm, malicious destruction of property, and possession of a machine gun. Jimenez, with two prior firearms convictions, is also concurrently entangled with the law, awaiting trial for reckless endangerment of a child.
