A Texas man was arrested for allegedly trying to solicit a minor online, after a sting operation by an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl on a social media platform. The suspect, identified as Lemuel Sosa Hernandez, 40, from Katy, fell into the trap set by a Human Exploitation Officer who was monitoring the site Mocospace.

The operation began on December 1, 2023, when the officer set up a profile masquerading as a teenage girl. Shortly after, Hernandez sent a friend request to the officer’s decoy account, starting what would turn out to be a damning exchange. Court records obtained by FOX San Antonio show that Hernandez pushed to immediately keep asking sexual questions despite being told, "I'm 14 so I never had a bf or anything yet," to which he replied, "Ok ok sorry."

However, the remorse was short-lived as Hernandez continued to make vulgar advances, going as far as to send a total of four explicit photos of himself, according to the affidavit. He didn't stop there; he also requested explicit images from the person he believed to be an underage girl.

Investigators were able to trace Hernandez through information provided by Mocospace which led them to uncover his phone number and email address. A check on the phone number brought up a Texas identification photo matching Hernandez both in the moniker and year of birth. With evidence gathered, police charged Hernandez with Online Solicitation of a Minor and arrested him.

Hernandez now faces a $50,000 bond for his alleged crime, but the case highlights a broader societal menace: the online vulnerabilities of minors and the predatory behavior lurking in social media corners. This arrest serves as a reminder of the constant vigilance needed by both parents and law enforcement in the digital age.
