The grim search for a suspect in an Arizona woman's murder came to a head as the Mohave County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of 32-year-old Nicholas Ray Volk. Volk was wanted for the killing of Marie Ann Noelani Garcia, found dead on March 3 in Kingman, as FOX 10 Phoenix reported.
Authorities say, Garcia, 30, was discovered with a gunshot wound near Northern Avenue and Bank Street. The investigation quickly pointed to Volk, who was believed to have fled in a tan Jeep. While the vehicle was later found, Volk eluded capture for days, with law enforcement labeling him as "armed and dangerous," according to a statement from the sheriff's office. A reward of $1,500 was even offered for information leading to his arrest, as noted on the office’s Facebook page.
The standoff concluded on March 13, when detectives learned Volk was holed up in a home in Dolan Springs. "The residence was surrounded, and negotiations began," the sheriff's office statement said. "A short time later, Volk exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident." His apprehension brings a tentative close to a community rattled by violent crime and an intense manhunt.
Volk now faces second-degree murder charges, as he's suspected of taking Garcia's life in cold blood. He was booked into jail, where he awaits his next steps in the legal process. Details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the crime remain under investigation by local authorities. Volk's capture marks an end to an anxious period for Kingman residents, disrupted by the sudden violence that claimed the life of one of their own and the subsequent flight of a now-indicted murderer.
