Commuters in Littleton experienced an unexpected disruption today when a tractor trailer clashed with an MBTA Commuter Rail train. The close shave, which happened near the crossing at King Street and Taylor Street around noon, fortunately resulted in no injuries, officials said, as reported by the Littleton Police Department.
Chief Matthew Pinard confirmed that the police were called to the scene after the accident occurred. Faced with the task of cleaning up the aftermath, authorities have advised locals to steer clear of the area, anticipating road closures along the tracks lasting into the afternoon. The mishap prompted police to assist in the evacuation of the train's passengers, transferring them to another train to continue their commute.
While regular services have been derailed, the Littleton community has remained unscathed despite the collision's potential for havoc. The commuter train's routine was a casualty to the crash's chaos, yet no person was harangued by harm's reach.
The MBTA Transit Police have taken the helm of the investigation, delving into the cause of the incident. As the workday wanes and the tracks are cleared, the Littleton Police Department continues coordinating efforts to minimize the crash's inconvenience to the public.
