
A 35-year-old man from Lynn was sentenced to a term exceeding five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to child pornography, U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper ruled this past Wednesday in a federal court in Boston.
Ever Edilberto Zuniga Ramirez will face 62 months behind bars followed by five years of supervised release for crimes including the distribution, receipt, and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) it was revealed that over 280 CSAM images were discovered on his phone some depicting children younger than 12.
The investigation, according to an announcement made by Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy and FBI Boston Division's Special Agent in Charge Jodi Cohen, was supported by the Revere Police Department with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Benjamin Tolkoff and John Reynolds leading the prosecution efforts, "the US Attorney's Office stated.
Zuniga Ramirez's conviction is part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ-launched initiative in 2006 to address the increase of child exploitation and abuse, marshaling federal, state, and local resources to prosecute offenders and rescue victims for more information about the project, those interested can visit the DOJ website.
