A man has been collared in the aftermath of a double shooting at a Newton County apartment complex while his alleged accomplice is still dodging the law, authorities said. The Newton County Sheriff's Office apprehended Robert Smith, a 20-year-old from Conyers, two days following the shootout at the Elme Apartments in Covington, as reported by WSBTV.
Answering to a trauma call the night of Feb. 25 just before the clock struck 8 p.m., deputies found two men with bullets in them; one was wrestling with major injuries, while minor injuries were all the other guy had to deal with. The investigation that unfolded later painted a grim picture of domestic violence related gunfire, leading to Smith's arrest.
The string of charges against Smith includes aggravated assault (family violence), possession of a firearm during a felony, intent to distribute marijuana, and tampering with evidence, detailed the FOX 5 Atlanta.
