A Northeast Side family argument escalated into a shooting earlier today, leaving a man in his 30s hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his stomach. The San Antonio police arrived at a residence on Vigil View, near Sentry Point and Nacogdoches Road, before 8 a.m. after being notified about the shooting, FOX San Antonio reported.
According to SAPD officers, a domestic dispute between the man and a woman he was involved with escalated when a younger man intervened, leading to a struggle, and the gun being discharged. Initially, it was asserted that the boyfriend of the victim's daughter used the firearm, however, KSAT later reported that the wounded man had actually drawn the gun himself before being shot in the upper body.
Authorities took the alleged shooter into custody, while the injured victim was transported in stable condition to a local hospital for treatment. The nature of the argument, which spiraled into a violent confrontation, has not been detailed by officers on the scene, and it remains to be seen what, if any, charges will be levied in the wake of the incident.
