The city issued a call for concessions to enhance one of Chicago City's prime attractions, the Chicago Riverwalk. In a statement, Mayor Johnson emphasized the dual role of the Riverwalk as "an economic engine for our city and a cherished gathering and recreational space for residents and visitors alike."
With last season’s revenues hitting a record $26 million, the city is looking to top the charts once again by inviting vendors to fill several bustling hot spots between Michigan Avenue and Lake Street. As reported by the City of Chicago's official announcement, proposals are being sought for a variety of concessions—food, beverages, retail, and even family-friendly activities. The city also wants these new vendors to further enhance the Riverwalk's already robust cultural and recreational appeal.
The RFP process officially kicked off with the aim to attract qualified teams capable of adding their own spark to this urban retreat. Specific locations up for grabs include parts of the Riverwalk Community Marketplace and the area west of the historic DuSable Bridge, Acting Commissioner Hernandez-Tomlin told the City of Chicago, celebrating last year's bustling hubs of activity, eateries, and cultural spaces.
To get in on this riverfront opportunity, interested parties should head over to the Chicago Riverwalk site to access the full RFP. A pre-submittal meeting awaits participants on March 20, with pre-registration required at [email protected]. Proposals are due by April 15.
