
A carjacking attempt at a Haverhill hotel spiraled into violence yesterday afternoon, leaving one man critically injured from gunshot wounds. Dexon Justabe, 24, of Methuen, stands accused of a slew of charges, including armed carjacking and assault with intent to murder. Haverhill Police officials reported the incident occurred around 4:17 PM at the Hampton Inn located alongside Interstate 495.
Haverhill authorities arrived to find a 20-year-old Lawrence man suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his stomach, a situation they rapidly to combat as they drifted into first responder roles. According to NBC Boston, the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was quickly transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The police have yet to provide clarity on whether Justabe has legal representation for his upcoming appearances in court.
Investigators have been piecing together the circumstances that led Dexon Justabe to allegedly pull the trigger. He faces an array of serious charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. Police pointed to the added gravity of possessing a large capacity feeding device and improper storage of a firearm. Boston 25 News highlighted the active and ongoing nature of the investigation.
