Miami’s Metromover will be temporarily out of service this tomorrow morning, Miami-Dade County officials announced today. The suspension, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., comes as the Miami Tower undergoes a construction project by a third-party contractor, confirmed by the county, with oversight by the Federal Aviation Administration. All Metromover stations will remain closed until given the all-clear to reopen, as reported by Local 10 News.
While the Metromover takes a break to accommodate construction, the county will offer a free bus shuttle service to bridge the gap between stations for disrupted passengers. “During this temporary closure, work on the Metromover Upgrade Project, a multi-year project to enhance the Metromover system, will continue to be advanced,” a county spokesperson said in a statement obtained by Local 10 News. This initiative aims to eventually upgrade the efficiency and experience of the local transit system.
Notices of the closure were also broadcasted via the Metromover's official X account, alerting riders to the day's disruption. The tweet served as a brief heads-up, complementing the more detailed advisement issued by county officials.
