Chaos ensued on the streets of Hollywood and Hallandale Beach as police scrambled to piece together events that left one woman lying on the road with gunshot wounds early yesterday morning. According to NBC6, a witness cycling along Pembroke Road and South Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach around 4 a.m. encountered a disturbing scene when a woman appeared to have been thrown from a moving car.
"Like, she tried to take a step and then she fell and collapsed, I stood over her and I just asked if she is ok, I just seen her choking," Lequan Payne recounted in a statement obtained by NBC6. Payne tried to shield the injured woman from oncoming traffic as others dialed 911. Nearby, another incident further tangled the narrative as a car crashed into a tree on Federal Highway and Wiley Street, from which two individuals fled, and whose connection to the injured woman remains unclear.
CBS News Miami reported that the unidentified victim had multiple gunshot wounds, details that were confirmed as paramedics arrived on the scene. Police have yet to release a statement regarding the identity of the victim or the suspects, or the exact nature of the events that unfolded between Pembroke Road and US 1 on the Hollywood Hallandale Beach border, where the woman was purportedly dumped onto the street.
Witness Payne vividly described the aftermath of the woman's fall, telling CBS News Miami, "They threw her out the car, she flew out the car." Despite the immediacy of Payne and other good Samaritans' efforts to come quickly to aid, details surrounding the incident remain scarce as investigators diligently work to trace back the victim's last tumultuous moments. "The ambulance was saying she's shot. They were saying for the police to come, 'She's shot.' They were saying she's shot," Payne recalled.
