A Nashua man is behind bars after a harrowing spree of gunfire and abduction, according to local authorities. James Thompson, 38, unleashed a barrage of bullets on several vehicles and a building before snatching a man at gunpoint yesterday morning, as NBC Boston reported.
The tumult began around 4:30 a.m. when Nashua police, responding to calls of shots fired at 1 Clocktower Place, simultaneously grappled with a distress call from a victim who initially could not pinpoint his location but, on a second attempt he did managing to lead officers to himself and Thompson; the victim, fortunately, was found unharmed, according to Boston 25 News.
Thompson now faces a raft of 14 charges including kidnapping, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, criminal threatening, and more, and had to be subdued after struggling with police officers resulting in minor injuries for both an officer and Thompson himself. The aftermath of his actions left four vehicles damaged by gunfire and a glass door shattered, which Thompson used to force entry into the victim's apartment where the kidnapping transpired.
In a calculated exploitation of fear, Thompson is said to have repeatedly threatened the victim with the firearm before compelling him to exit the apartment at gunpoint, in a harrowing ordeal that no doubt left psychological scars though the victim was physically unscathed. He is currently being held on preventative detention and is awaiting his Monday arraignment at the 9th Circuit-District Division-Nashua Court, as the investigation continues, anyone with additional information is urged to come forward and contact the Nashua Police at 603-589-1665.
