Cameron Knight described the ordeal, detailing the escalation from a verbal to a physical altercation outside the drugstore located at 1081 Murfreesboro Road. "That's when we got into a verbal altercation and it went from verbal to physical," Knight said in an interview obtained by WKRN.
In a related case of harrowing violence, a Tennessee woman, Travonsha Ferguson, has filed a lawsuit against Walgreens, following a near-fatal encounter where she was shot seven times by a store employee in a separate East Nashville location. As reported by FOX Business, the incident occurred last April when Mitarius Boyd, the employee, suspected Ferguson or her friend of attempting to shoplift while she was seven-months pregnant.
The suspicion was sparked when another employee tipped off Boyd to the alleged theft at the store on 2500 Gallatin Avenue. Metropolitan Nashville Police Department documents show Boyd observed the women placing items into a cart and a large over-the-shoulder bag and began recording them with his cellphone as they exited the premises without payment. Ferguson remains in critical condition following the shooting which unfolded in the parking lot.
Boyd followed the suspected shoplifters out of the store and confronted them, leading to the dire circumstances that have resulted in the lawsuit. According to New York Post, the encounter between the women and Boyd swiftly turned violent.
